Scott, AIA has become a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
Accredited Professional (LEED® AP). The LEED program is administered
by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The firm has
been a member of the USGBC since 2007. Mr. Scotts certification
underscores the firms commitment to sustainable design practices.

Charles E. Pat Pattillo, III spoke to the Jacksonville
Historical Society on January 29, 2009 regarding his recently published
book St. Dunstans and John. The presentation included
discussion of historic carpenter gothic churches located along the
St. Johns River. These churches, along with the people who built
them and the people who visited them, inspired Pat to write the
book.

Solantic Walk-in Urgent Care Center in Orlando International Airport
opened on December 16, 2008. R. Dean Scott, Architect, Inc. was
pleased to provide architectural and construction contract administration
services for this important project. The center occupies approximately
1,000 sf on the third level of the main terminal. The center features
an inviting waiting area, four exam rooms, an x-ray/procedure room,
lab and restroom. The center is Solantics 23rd location in
Florida. Gomez Construction of Winter Park, Florida provided general

November 2008
R. Dean Scott, Architect, Inc. completed its entry for the sixth
annual Rotary Gingerbread Extravaganza. The entry was entitled Merry
Monkees and was created with gingerbread, icing, marshmallows,
sugar cookies and other goodies. The gingerbread display is inside
historic St. Andrews Church located near the sports complex
in downtown Jacksonville. The display will be open throughout the

Solantic Walk-in Urgent Care Center in Vero Beach, Florida opened
on September 24, 2008. R. Dean Scott, Architect, Inc. was pleased
to provide architectural services for the 3,800 sf center. The center
was constructed by Kirchman Construction Co. of Stuart, Florida.
The Vero Beach center is Solantics 19th location. R. Dean
Scott, Architect, Inc. has provided architectural services for seven
of the centers and has designs in progress for three more centers.

R. Dean Scott, Architect, Inc. has been selected by Hibernia Baptist
Church in Fleming Island, Florida to design their new sanctuary
and education building. The 40,000 sf building will include an auditorium
that will seat over 1,100 as well as classrooms and a hospitality
area. Thomas May Construction Company of Orange Park, Florida will
provide general contracting services for the project. To learn more

Duval County Public Schools has selected R. Dean Scott, Architect,
Inc. for the Annual Contract for Architect/Engineer Services. This
marks the second time the firm has been selected by DCPS for a continuing
contract. The first project to be executed under the new contract
will be a smoke control system for the auditorium at Sandalwood
High School No. 237.

the firm.

Duval County Public Schools selected W. G. Mills and SchenkelShultz
Architecture as design/build partners for new High School AAA No.
268. Drake/Pattillo & Associates, Architects, Inc. will serve
as associate architects for the project. The new school will have
2,320 student stations. The construction budget is approximately
$56 million.

Duval County Public Schools selected Skanska USA Building and Drake/Pattillo
& Associates, Architects, Inc. as design/build partners for
the HVAC Replacement at Mandarin High School No. 260 and First Coast
High School No. 265. The project construction cost is approximately
$8.5 million.

"Best Entry by a Company" award from the Rotary
Club of South Jacksonville for its creation entitled "Jackson-mill".
"Jackson-mill" was constructed by members of the firm
for the second annual Rotary Gingerbread Extravaganza.

Drake/Pattillo & Associates, Architects, Inc. has earned the
"Best Entry by a Company" award from the Rotary
Club of South Jacksonville for its depiction of "Dorothy's
House" from the Wizard of Oz. "Dorothy's House" was
built from gingerbread and decorated with candy and other food products.
The display was created for the Rotary Club's inaugural Gingerbread
Extravaganza.
